Cabo San Lucas Marine Preserve

Located only ten minutes away from the downtown Cabo San Lucas Marina by boat, the government protected Cabo San Lucas Marine Preserve offers some excellent dive sites for beginners and advanced divers alike. The Preserve's proximity to Cabo San Lucas allows vacationers to participate in a half day scuba diving excursion. An abbreviated tour is perfect for new divers, cruise ship passengers on a stopover, or for vacationers on a budget. Anegada, Pelican Rock, the North Wall, the South Wall, Neptune's Finger, the Sea Lion Colony, the iconic Arch, Lover's Beach and Land's End are all located within the boundaries of this government-protected marine sanctuary.

The Golden Corridor

The Golden Corridor is the stretch of coastline that extends north from downtown Cabo San Lucas to San Jose del Cabo. This massive swath of shoreline is home to luxury resorts as well as many pristine coves full of marine life. Santa Maria Cove and Chileno Bay, two government-protected sanctuaries, are two of the best examples of these coves. Due to their sheltered geography, the visibility in the water of these coves is excellent.

Cabo Pulmo

Positioned two hours north of Los Cabos on the shores of the Baja Peninsula, the reef in Cabo Pulmo National Marine Preserve holds the distinction of being the only living coral reef in the Sea of Cortez as well as the only living coral reef along the western coast of North America. As a result of rare geographic conditions, a consistent water temperature of seventy degrees (Fahrenheit) is maintained in the Cabo Pulmo Bay which is a key factor for live coral growth.

Gordo Banks

Located eight miles off the shores of San Jose Del Cabo in the Sea of Cortez, the Gordo Banks rivals Cabo Pulmo and Cabo San Lucas Marine Preserve for the title of best scuba diving spot in the region. Because of the depths (up to one hundred and thirty feet) and the powerful currents, this locale is only recommended for advanced divers. This dive site is very active, with large schools of Jacks, swarms of Hammerhead Sharks, lone Bull Sharks, massive Manta Rays and occasionally a gigantic Whale Shark.
